ResponsibilitiesFire Apparatus
The Public Safety Department is responsible for fire protection for the City of Mexico. This includes fire suppression, fire inspections, and fire safety programs.

All Public Safety officers are cross-trained as firefighters. Officers receive training at the local, state, and national level. Locally, officers receive training from the Department's fire training officer, a State-certified fire instructor.

Officers may also attend the Missouri Fire Rescue Training Institute and the National Fire Academy during their career. 


The Department currently has 5 pieces of equipment to protect the citizens of Mexico:

  • Truck 213, aerial tower
  • Truck 211, rescue truck
