The Mexico Animal Shelter employs two full-time animal control officers. The animal control officer's duties include investigation of complaints of animals running loose, dog bite incidents, and day to day duties at the animal shelter.

Public Events
The Mexico Animal Shelter Advisory Board contributes their time and efforts to support and assist with operational procedures for the shelter.

Members of the Audrain Humane Society also volunteer to assist at public events that are held such as Adopt-A-Dog Month and Be Kind To Animals Week.

These programs are open to the public with the Be Kind To Animals Week providing school age children an opportunity to tour the animal shelter facility and educate them on the importance of animal care.
