Chief of Public Safety: Brice Mesko

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Mexico Department of Public Safety.

Mexico is located in the northeast center of the state, and about 110 miles northwest of St Louis. Mexico has a total area of 12.38 square miles, of which, 12.01 square miles is land and 0.37 square miles is water.

Staff Members

Our department is comprised of 34 sworn officers, who are cross trained as police officers and firefighters, and assigned to different areas of responsibility and supported by 2 non-sworn personnel and supplemented by 8 volunteer firefighters. The members of the Mexico Department of Public Safety are committed to excellence in policing and fire suppression.

Department Mission

The mission of Mexico DPS is to provide the highest level of public safety and service to the citizens and business people within the community. The members of this Department are empowered to enforce the laws of the state of Missouri and the ordinances of the City of Mexico to ensure that the peace and tranquility of our neighborhoods are maintained and that crime and the fear of crime are reduced.
