It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Mexico Department of Public Safety.
Mexico is located in the northeast center of the state, and about 110 miles northwest of St Louis. Mexico has a total area of 12.38 square miles, of which, 12.01 square miles is land and 0.37 square miles is water.
Our department is comprised of 34 sworn officers, who are cross trained as police officers and firefighters, and assigned to different areas of responsibility and supported by 2 non-sworn personnel and supplemented by 8 volunteer firefighters. The members of the Mexico Department of Public Safety are committed to excellence in policing and fire suppression.
The mission of Mexico DPS is to provide the highest level of public safety and service to the citizens and business people within the community. The members of this Department are empowered to enforce the laws of the state of Missouri and the ordinances of the City of Mexico to ensure that the peace and tranquility of our neighborhoods are maintained and that crime and the fear of crime are reduced.
We emphasize integrity, honesty, impartiality and professionalism from our members in order to create an environment that values differences and fosters fairness and flexibility in our mission. We encourage citizen input and interaction that will assist us in developing sound partnerships between the community and Public Safety. Working together we can protect our future and enhance the quality of life for everyone within the town.
